Programs for Adults

Friends of the Library Bookstore. Hours are Tue-Fri, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Fri-Sat, 1-4 p.m. Sun-Mon, Closed

1st Tuesday at Rancho San Diego: Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee Presentation. Tuesday, November 4th at 5:30 pm (new time) and Graham Mackintosh, December 2nd at 6:30 p.m.

East County Travel Club. The East Country Travel Club will not be meeting in November and December. It will resume January 13, 2009.

Lectura Adventura. A Spanish language reading club for adults. Tuesday,November 18th and December 16th, 5 p.m. (3rd Tuesday)

Mystery Book Club. The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter, by Sharon McCrumb. Tuesday, November 25th, 5:30 p.m. (Last Tuesday). No meeting in December.

Spanish Conversation Club for Adults. Do you know a little Spanish but have a hard time holding a conversation? Come to this beginner’s Spanish club to brush up on your skills! November 5, December 10, 17th. Wednesdays 10:00 – 11:00 am.

Writers’ Club. Please contact Rita Micklish at (619) 670-6858 for more information. Thursdays, November 6 and 20, December 4 and 18th, 10 a.m.-noon & 6:30-8 p.m. (1st & 3rd Thursdays)

Friends of the Library Board Meeting. Thursday, November 13th and December 11th, 5:30 p.m. (2nd Thursday)

Friday Adult Craft. Adult Crafts. Friday, November 14th and December 12th, 11 a.m. – noon.

Gentle Yoga. Please sign up for this class at the reference desk and bring your own mat. Mondays, November 3, 10, 17, 24 10:30 a.m.

Intergenerational Art. This intergenerational art class is open to all ages. Friday, November 10th, 4:00 p.m.

Children’s Programs

Peek-A-Book Baby Storytime. Join Ms. Jodi for our program for baby and mom/dad featuring stories, fingerplays, and songs! Mondays at 10:30 a.m.

Stories with Grandma Carmel. Entertaining storytelling with stories personally selected by our Grandparent Storyteller. Mondays, 10 a.m.-12 noon.

Paws to Read. Children read to therapy dog Sonny, a golden retriever, to gain confidence and practice reading aloud. Some Mondays, 4-6 p.m.

Toddler Storytimes. Stories, songs, and playtime just for toddlers and their parents! Tuesdays, 10:15-10:45 a.m.

Preschool Storytimes. Featuring stories and songs for preschoolers. Tuesdays, 11:15-11:45 a.m.

Afternoon Stories (Grades K-5). Join us for stories and an occasional craft. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:30-3 p.m.

Bilingual Storytimes. Bilingual storytime in Spanish and English; followed by a fun craft! Thursdays, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Teen Programs

Homework Helper Center-Tutoring. Tutoring for middle school students in all subjects. Some textbooks are available. Monday-Wednesday, 3:30- 4:30 p.m.

Teen Advisory Group. Join this group to take an active part in your library! Members plan programs, select materials, and help the community. Some Mondays, 4-5 p.m.

Teen Book Club. Participants read and discuss books while munching on snacks. Some Mondays, 5 p.m. Call library for this month’s book title.

Anime/Manga Club. Each week we discuss topics in Anime/Manga, watch old and new episodes of Anime, and practice drawing characters. Wednesdays, 4-5 p.m.

Chess Club. Play in the tournament or just practice with your friends. Thursdays, 3:30-5 p.m.

Axis and Allies Club. Take either side and control your country to victory in this board game based on World War II. Now also featuring D-Day! Some Fridays, 3:30 – 4:45 pm.

Intergenerational Art. This intergenerational art class is open to all ages. Friday, November 10th, 4:00 p.m.
