PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

Tuesday, Sept. 4, 6:30 pm
First Tuesday @ Rancho San Diego
Presents a free performance of Latin American music featuring Duo Colibiri, with guitarist Magdalena Loza and flutist Tiffany Weller. This will be the first program of a new monthly series on the first Tuesday of each month.

Computerized Information Classes - All classes use Dell personal computers. Please call (619) 660-5370 to register or for more information or sign up at the Information Desk. Space may be limited, so early registration is recommended.

Using the Mouse and Keyboard - Saturday, Sept. 8:
This class for beginners will help you become comfortable with the basic mouse and keyboard skills needed for using a computer.

Introduction to E-mail - Saturday, Sept. 15:
Sign up for a free email account and learn how to get mail online.

Introduction to the World Wide Web for Beginners - Saturday, Sept. 22:
Learn how to use a Web browser and how to search the Web using Search Engines and Web Directories.

Introduction to Windows - Saturday, Sept. 28:
Learn the basics about using Windows to work with computer programs and documents. Please bring a floppy disk or USB flash drive with you.

Holocaust Survivor Presentation - Meet Gussie Zaks of the New Life Club, who will speak about her experiences as a teenage girl prisoner of Nazi Germany at the Bergen-Belsen extermination / concentration camp.


Family Programs – All Ages

Friday, Sept. 21 – Tuesday, October 2
Davka, The Survival of a People - Join us for a multimedia exhibit of photographs, video, and audiotaped oral histories that illuminate the path from the Holocaust to survival through the stories and testimony of 10 families, the majority from San Diego. The focus is not a retelling of the Holocaust, but on what happened to the survivors themselves and their families once they survived.

Library Happy Hour - In Honor of Library Card Sign-up Month, return your overdue materials and we’ll waive the fines.

Ms. Veronica leads Spanish and English Bilingual Storytime, followed by a fun craft!

Teen Programs

Monday - Thursday, 3:30 - 5 pm
Homework Center - Tutoring. Tutoring for middle school students in all subjects. Some textbooks are available.

Teen Council - Join this group to take an active part in your library! Members plan programs, select materials, and help the community.

Wednesdays, 4 - 5 pm
Anime/Manga Club - Each week we discuss topics in Anime/Manga, watch old and new episodes of Anime, and look through various newsletters, magazines, and Manga.

Thursdays, 3:30 - 5 pm
Chess Club - Learn how to play chess and practice the game with your friends.

Fridays, 3:30 - 4:45 pm
Axis & Allies Club - Take either side and lead your country to victory in this board game based on World War II. Now also featuring D-Day; choose to defend Fortress Europe as Germany or assault with the Allied forces of the United Kingdom and the United States.
